There is a wonderful mythical law of nature that the three things we crave most in life -- happiness, freedom, and peace of mind -- are always attained by giving them to someone else.
-Peyton Conway March
To be kind and generous is not a sacrifice, it is a privilege. The gifts we give to others bring more joy and inspiration to ourselves than to the receiver. Here are 7 great reasons to practice kindness and generosity.
- In gratitude, we find true peace, contentment and satisfaction in life. Giving is an outward expression of gratitude. It helps us focus on what we have instead of what is missing. It perpetuates gratitude.
- Desires, selfishness and materialism are a burden which can drain inspiration. Giving frees us instantly from this burden.
- Scarcity and suffering are contagious. Helping someone overcome scarcity and suffering is uplifting and motivating.
- Joy is contagious. Knowing that we’ve contributed to that joy is inspiring.
- Kindness is inspiring to others.
- When we take time to consider all the things we have to offer, we realize just how wealthy we are.
- Kindness makes the world a better place. What could be better than living in a world that is better because you made it so.

I am Danny Kohn, writer and designer for this site and owner, software engineer and consultant for Inspirations Software Design.
My three greatest passions in life are sharing time with my family, software design and sharing inspiration with others. I have the incredible privilege of being able to spend a significant amount of time every day doing each of those three things.
I am a single father of Tristen, our 6 year old son. It has been such an incredible joy to watch him grow up and learn so much. Everything he does and says overwhelms me with adoration. We have a wonderful evening ritual of reading books together in a beanbag chair. Nearly every night, we have a laughing attack together. I smile and giggle constantly in his presence and feel truly inspired.

What a great post! Although I’ve loved kindness and have been drawn to doing more random acts of kindness in the last few years, I couldn’t explain to others why it’s so wonderful.
Thanks for doing it for me! :0)
